Hero Project Reflection!

A hero to me would be someone who is willing to do anything to help someone else even if that meant putting there needs before your own. The hero in my eyes project was a assignment that we had to pick a person who we thought was heroic, (someone we knew) and about why we found them heroic, or in the heroic moment. We also had to capture a moment where we thought they were being heroic and take a picture.

We wrote about three drafts before we got to our final draft. Peer editing, and teacher editing was really helpful along the way. Keeping up with all the draft deadlines was really hard, sometimes I couldn't always get a draft in on that day.

I learned how to work on one moment, and using sensory detail in my writing. A lot of the time when someone edits your work they give suggestions to improve which they may have a good idea, but that might mean that you will have to change your whole perspective of your paper.

Perspective was really something you had to look for during this project. Everyone had a different perspective of a hero. So you had to make sure you respected other people perspective.

Orgin Of Zero!

It was interesting to hear the history of the number zero. I never really thought about where the number zero originated from. It came to my attention while reading the article that when something is discovered it will eventually get around to other places. The archaeologists who study that kind of stuff determined which concept was older which I think is very interesting. Well I don't think they really know who first discovered zero, but until they do they're going to continue to going with the civilization they assume discovered it. If one person comes up with a concept, and it's a good one then it will sooner or later get around to everyone .

"I Struggled To Get Here!"

I struggled to get here!

“I struggled to get here.” My mom would always say. I sat in the passenger seat
Horizontal to my mother, the car was filled with the smell of car fresheners, and
the Breeze flowing from the side window made me Shiver. I loved long car rides, especially with my mom it always made me feel so safe, and secure. She sang along with the radio with a cracked voice snapping her fingers with her free hand. “Sarah smile, wont you smile a while for me Sarah smile.” How ironic I thought, my mom’s Name is Sarah, and she just so happens to never smile. “All my friends used to sing this song to me.” She said. I looked over at her “I bet they did.” I could tell that the Song had brought back memories. I never really thought about what my mom sacrificed for me. Not just having to deal with me, but my five other siblings all by herself. Having her first child at 17, I couldn’t even imagine how she did it. Always having to put us first, no matter how bratty or Disrespectful she thought we were, she put up with it and took care of us. She didn’t always have a lot of money but she made the Most of what she had.
She made sure we had everything we needed, and she did it all by herself. Being
selfless is my mother’s Specialty. It’s almost like her world revolved around us. My
mom isn’t going to be around forever, but I know one thing for Sure, I’ll never have
to go through anything Alone as long as I have her. She’s been a Mom, and a dad for
as long as I can remember, she’s been there every single Time, even though we
disagree, and have Pointless arguments there hasn't been a day Yet that she’s let me
down.

Art Electric!

Project Description

The project was to use a box to portray a character trait. You had to use at least five light, a extra flair, and a working button or switch.

Process

My art piece conveyed the character trait "bright." I expressed the trait by putting on each side of the box something that I thought proteins to my trait. Inside my box I have my lights set up in a parallel circuit, three at the top and two at the bottom. I also have a button and a motor. The button activates the lights, and the motor, and only works when held down. The motor spins the sun on one side of the box. The button is located in the left hand bottom corner of the box. I have a triangle cut out on one side so people can see how i set up the circuitry. When I started setting up my circuits i had to strip all the single wires, and the lights wires. I connected the wire that was on the battery holder to the button, and the other wire to the light so that the button would be able to activate all the lights. I then connected the bottom light wire to the top light, and the top light to the light in the middle, and the middle light to the far right light, and that light to the bottom one. I then had to find a way to connect the motor into this circuit. So I stripped the motors wire and connected it to one of the lights wire in the middle.

Recap/Reflection

When I revised my drafts it helped me see where I needed to change things.

When someone peer revised my work and said i should improve something it kind of messed up my flow.

I learned a lot of new things while doing this project. I learned how to set up parallel, and series circuits, strip wire, and a lot more.

Sometime my lights or motor wouldn't come on, but I would just have to wiggle the wire a bit or twist them together more.

I know for sure that if someone every asks me to set up a circuit it'll be able to set it up.

I would pick a different trait to portray, because somethings didn't work out how i planned they would go.

Literary Devices Blog

Catching the signal from one of her friends, Angela brushed her skirt, took a deep breath and walked towards where he was sitting. He sat on the bench like a bump on a log.
"Hi Michael!" Angela said as she slipped a piece of loose hair behind her ear.
"Whats up?" Michael replied, trying not to look up from his book. The two of them sat in silence.
Angela could tell Michael had a chip on his shoulder. "Are you still mad at me?"
"Why would I be mad?" He pretended not to know.
"I'm sorry Michael, I'm heartbroken too, but there's nothing i can do"
"Whatever!" He got up and trailed along dragging his feet.
"Bye!"

8th Grade Promotion!

Standing here before all the parents, friends, and teachers I’ve never felt so small. I'm an abecedarian to this whole speaking in front of large crowds, I thought. The audience is filled with interested eyes beaming up at me while I’m standing at the podium to give my speech. Avoiding all eye contact with anyone in the crowd I focus my eyes on the back wall. Cameras flashing, balloons flying, and the aroma of flowers could be smelt a mile away. My stomach is filled with butterflies, my hands gadabout on the podium and my head feels as if it was spinning uncontrollably. Discomfort is written all over my face, and I no longer care to hide it.

My mouth opens, and I try to force words out, but nothing, all I can do is think. Think about how it’s going to be after this. How I’m going to miss all of my friends, and how nothing will ever be the same again. Overwhelmed by the situation I’m a nervous wreck, my palms are sweaty, and there’s a knot the size of a fist in my throat. I take a deep breath and spit out each word one by one, the words come spilling out like logorrhea. The microphone echoes my voice throughout the whole building. I’m trying to skimp through this speech as quick as I can, but it seems like it keeps getting longer, and longer.

I ignore the camera flashes, and the people screaming my name occasionally. As I begin to wrap up the ending of my speech I sigh in relief. I’m just glad this is almost over. I gather all my thoughts and can’t help but to be proud of myself. The smile on my face could have lighted up the room. I’m inundated by all the clapping, and chanting. My face instantly altered from a frown to a smile.

Sensory Detail: Sound

Loud and annoying, the irritating sound plunges forcefully into my eardrums. The noise echoing resembles a car alarm or a police siren. It gets louder, and louder as time runs out. Just when you think the sound is going to stop it keeps going, i never witnessed a time considered to be quick go by so slowly. Bursting the insides of my eardrums, how i would hate to have to hear that against my will. The sound wave is consistent, never breaking the pattern of the noise. If sound could have a color, i assure you this sound would be red, because when things are written in red it's usually to warn people, or catch the attention of. This sound would most likely catch the attention of a deaf man. I never knew such a loud sound could be considered a form art.

The Locker Problem!

There were 1,000 lockers. One student opens every locker, another student closes every other locker. Leaving 500 lockers open, and 500 lockers closed. The diagram below shows the fist 16 lcokers, and the pattern. I discovered that all perfect sauared lockers have factors that are pairs, so now every locker except the perfect squared lockers get opened, and closed an even amount of times. There are now 31 lockers open, every locker number that is a perfect square is open like, 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64 etc... Thos Lockers are open because they are perfect squares.

S.L.O.B Character - What I Did This Weekend (Lilly)

Rosaleen, and the calender sisters all went to town to get supplies for dinner tonight leaving me here in case Zach comes by before they get home. I ponder the house wondering if my mother had did the same exact thing. I know she's been here, I just know it.

A knock at the door awakens me from my dream world. It was Zach! My heart beats with delight, and anxiousness, I'm finally going to be alone with him i thought, completely alone. I open the door, acting as if i didn't know he was coming. I can barely control myself, he's so handsome. "Where's August?' He charmingly says, slipping off his jacket, and plopping on the sofa. "They all went to town to get dinner, August said just wait here until she gets back."

I slipped down on the sofa right next to Zach. I never knew silence could make me feel so uncomfortable. Zach broke the silence with a loud yawn. "So, Lily, hows your writing going?" "Good" I quickly reply, looking up at him dying for his lips to touch mines. He looks down at me, and i know the feeling is neutral. I lean forward trying to reach his lips, but he quickly turns his head. I felt so stupid. "I like you lily, a lot but do you know what would happen to me if anyone ever found out about this?" "They'll skin me alive!" I sat in silence. "I better go, tell August I'll be back tomorrow."

Favorite Fictional Heroe!

Elastic Girl!
Mrs. Incredible, or Elastic Girl, from the movie "The Incredibles" is my all time favorite fictional hero. Elastic Girl has the ability to stretch her body to amazing limits, and has amazing strategy. She lives in a city where super heroes are discriminated against. There for she encourages her family not to use their powers in public, or at all.

When her husband (Mr. Incredible) goes on a mysterious business trip, she follows him with out his knowledge, and her two kids trail along secretly. When she realizes her husband is in serious trouble, she springs into action to save him. She eventually saves her husband, and gives a better name for super heroes. I think Elastic Girl is the best fictional hero, because she's like a regular mom, and lives a regular life like everyone else, but when she feels her family of city is threatened she will do all she can to protect her family and city.

What is Math and Physics.

What is math & physics?

Math is made up of numbers, letters, symbols, formulas etc. Math is similar to a language, no matter where you go in the world math it's always going to come in handy. When someone mentions math what automatically pops into your head? The basics right, adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division? As we all know that's not all there is to math, to me math is a way of solving a problem mathematically. It is a skill that everyone one uses, sometimes people are unaware that they're using math. Somethings you have to work in order to understand them, math is one of those things.

Physics involves science, or is science. It explains the interaction of matter and energy. Physics is experimenting with scientific formulas that have already been explained, and hypothesizing your idea. When i think of physics i think of weird symbols, Albert Einstein, and test tubes. What is Physics? It has different meanings to different people, is there a wrong or right answer?
